Field management software FAQ
Straight answers to the questions Singapore service business owners ask most before choosing field management software.
Questions and answers
What is field management software?
Field management software (also called field service management or FSM software) is a system that helps businesses with mobile workers schedule jobs, dispatch technicians, record work on site, and bill customers. Office staff plan and assign jobs on a calendar; technicians receive them on a mobile app, complete checklists, take photos and collect customer signatures; and the completed job turns into an invoice without re-typing.
What is the best field management software in Singapore?
The best field management software for a Singapore business is one that handles local requirements out of the box: GST-registered invoices at the current 9% rate, PayNow QR payment collection, PDPA-compliant handling of customer data, Singapore postal-code addresses, and recurring service contracts. It should also run on both iOS and Android, work in areas with weak signal such as basements and plant rooms, and be priced per user so small teams are not paying for enterprise features. Field Matters was built around exactly these requirements.
How much does field management software cost in Singapore?
Most field management software in Singapore is priced per user per month, with separate pricing for office (admin) users and field technicians. Total cost depends on team size, which modules you need (for example inventory or customer portal), and whether onboarding and data migration are included. Ask for a quote that lists every fee — setup, training, SMS/WhatsApp notifications and payment processing — so you can compare vendors fairly.
Is there a government grant for field service management software in Singapore?
Singapore SMEs may be able to offset the cost of business software through government schemes such as the Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG), which supports pre-approved IT solutions. Eligibility, support levels and which solutions are listed change over time, so check the current list on the GoBusiness Gov Assist portal before you buy, and ask any vendor to confirm in writing whether their solution is pre-approved.
Can technicians use the app without internet?
Yes. The Field Matters technician app stores the day’s jobs on the phone, so technicians can open job details, fill in checklists, take photos and capture signatures in basements, risers and plant rooms with no signal. Everything syncs automatically once the phone reconnects.
Does it support GST invoices and PayNow?
Yes. Quotations and invoices show your GST registration number and calculate GST at the prevailing rate (9% from 1 January 2024). Each invoice can carry a PayNow QR code so customers can pay on the spot, and invoices can be exported to your accounting software.
How long does it take to get started?
Most small and mid-sized service teams in Singapore are scheduling live jobs within one to two weeks. We import your customer list, service locations and price list from Excel or your existing system, configure your job sheet templates, and train office staff and technicians.
Who is field management software for?
Any business that sends staff to customer locations: aircon servicing, cleaning, pest control, facilities management and M&E, plumbing, electrical, lift maintenance, fire protection, security installation, IT and telecom installation, landscaping and renovation. It is useful from around three technicians upwards.
Does it replace our accounting software?
No. Field management software handles operations — quotes, jobs, service reports and invoices. Your accounting software remains the system for your general ledger, payroll and GST filing. Invoices and payments are exported to it so nothing is retyped.
Is customer data stored securely and in line with PDPA?
Customer data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is role-based so technicians only see what they need for their assigned jobs, and an audit log records who accessed or changed records. You can export or delete an individual’s data to handle access and withdrawal requests under the Personal Data Protection Act.
Can we import our existing customers and price list?
Yes. Customers, sites, assets, contracts and price lists can be imported from Excel or CSV. We help with the first import during onboarding.
Do technicians need a company phone?
No. The technician app runs on most recent iOS and Android phones. Because access is controlled by user login and role, customer data is not stored in personal chat apps.
Can customers get notified when the technician is on the way?
Yes. Customers can receive an SMS or email when the job is scheduled, when the technician is on the way, and when the service report and invoice are ready.
